    Disneyland fun at Halloween Time!

    October 21, 2018

Hey Guys! I’m finally home from traveling (for now, lol) I just had the best time in California with my family during the Halloween season. I’m not the biggest fan of Halloween tbh but all of the decor and events going on in the Disney Parks for the season were actually pretty cool. This vid is kind of a mesh of all the days of our trip because I wanted to share some of the highlights with you! (p.s. If you’re wondering why my outfits change it’s because we spent 2 days at each of the parks. 😉 )

    Gringa Makes a Wedding Cake……Again.

    February 7, 2017

Hey guys! So I haven’t posted anything on a Tuesday in a while now so it’s sort of a nice change. I wanted to just do a short little bonus post this week so I could share the pictures I promised you of the wedding cake I made this past weekend. I had a lot of fun making it and I feel like I gained so much experience for next time. I would do so many things differently for next time, but overall I was pretty happy with how this cake turned out. When I was talking and planning with my friend, Maria José, about what she wanted for her…

Semi-Silent Sundays: Ryder’s First Birthday Minion Party

    February 14, 2016

So it’s been a while (okay, more like forever) since my last Semi-Silent Sunday post. I really like these posts because there’s something extra fun about doing minimal work on words and writing but still getting to share lots of pictures. I’m thinking of bringing them back for that reason. I know I said minimal words but I should at least mention that these pictures are from my favorite (and only) nephew Ryder’s first birthday. It was on Tuesday and we threw him a little family minion party. Liv and I did it together, like an all-star team up, only mommy and auntie style. She made the cake, a chocolate…

Gringa Makes a Wedding Cake: A Chilean Wedding Party

    January 17, 2016

Hey guys, I’m pretty sure I promised at some point last week that I’d share some pics from my weekend! I spent most of my week in some kind of zone planning for the weekend and trying to keep up with some other changes in my usual week. Some of you may remember me mentioning that my friend Paulina asked me to cater her wedding party food. The party wasn’t exactly a reception. It was really more the equivelant of a wedding shower but I still made my first tiered cake that requiered supports and everything. Her colors and decor were simple and rustic with oragami cranes and fresh flowers. Josh…

Gingerbread House 2015! Fairytale Forest Cottage

    December 19, 2015

Hey guys, I finally finished the house! It only took me…..5 days. I mentioned a few days ago that I was going to do it in pieces this year to avoid getting overwhelmed because I like to make everything from scratch. I’m so glad I did it that way this year because it made all the difference in stress levels and let me take the time to make it how I wanted. Everything on my house is edible including the dirt on the ground the entire structure of the house, and even the christmas trees ( Shhhhh, I used ice cream cones, the only exception to my all homemade rule.)…

Living in Chile – Volcán Calbuco Eruption

    April 23, 2015

I had a recipe to post today but it seemed a little insignificant in light of the fact that I was watching a volcanic eruption yesterday and half the night last night. My everyday life may not always be as exciting as food but I think molten lava and volcanic ash is pretty sweet. There were actually two eruptions one started around 6 pm and the second around 1 am. The first one pretty much blew my mind. I mean, I really couldn’t believe it was actually happening. I was all like washing dishes and stuff and look up to see this! How many people get to see this kind…

    Living in Chile – Llifen

    November 5, 2014

I’m not feeling very verbose today. Actually, I’m feeling more retrospective. I seem to always talk myself out of posting pictures of things other than my recipes, deciding that it would be boring to you guys.  It’s just so much easier to talk about food and recipes than it is to put personal stuff out there, you know what I mean? Today I’m feeling like that’s being unfair though, because when I did a post recently on living here in Chile, I had so many of you tell me how much you enjoyed seeing pictures of where I live and my life. So today I thought I would be a slacker and just share some of…

  • When it's the Christmas season and you're feeling real extra.... ❄️🍫🎄 Most of the time guys, I eat such basic meals. On the other hand, sometimes I like to be a little rebellious and mix a bunch of stuff together that might weird people out. 😝 Look, I'm not going to try to explain my strangeness when there's people paying good money to eat snails in France, bugs in Asia, and goodness knows what else. Relatively speaking I think this is pretty tame. 😂
In the bowl -> @naturespathorganic pumpkin waffle, @oatyeahoats yogurt, mixed berries, peanut butter, chocolate, cacoa nibs, pumpkin seeds, and a few bits of a @larabar. Told ya I was feeling extra.😉

  • It's official, the true cold weather has arrived and I'm not exactly thrilled about it. 🥶🥶🥶🥶 I keep thinking that if we had snow on the ground it would make it seem a little more worth it. Although, then I remember that I have to drive in it and I'm totally content to wait a few more days to get our inevitable blanket of white.
Basically, all I wanna do is snuggle up in a blanket and eat cozy comfort food while watching cheesy Hallmark movies. Oats have been a huge go-to. What's your favorite cold weather breakfast? 🥣☕🥞🥯🍠🥑🍎🍌 Btw, recipe for these PB banana oats on the blog
  • It's December my friends, crazy right? I'm still trying to figure out how the year can pass so quickly but I'm also so excited that the most wonderful month of the year is here.
The downtown area where I live just came alive with sparkling Christmas lights everywhere you look. Oh, and I think my neighbors are all trying to outdo each other on decorating their homes. It's very entertaining to say the least.

I know I've shared a lot of sweet stuff lately but it is the holidays. I'll be baking these this week because their a family favorite and a traditional treat I make every year.

  • I have to ask, can you think of anything that’s more fun than mini-sized foods, ’cause I’m having a hard time coming up with one right now? These are an absolute must-make you guys! The kids were flipping out over the fact that I made baby cinnamon rolls and they disappeared super fast. I think my brother’s are still investigating who took the last one. Since I think it was one of them they get kudos for faking innocence pretty well.

So you are going to try these right? You’ll be everyone’s bff if you do because these are a major crowd-pleaser!

  • In my opinion cookies are best right out of the oven every time. The problem with that is that the chewiest cookie recipes are far too soft to hold when they are warm.

The answer to this terrible life problem is to make your cookies deep dish in a big skillet or in a bunch of small ones. Then you have to top it all off with some ice cream and you have a dream dessert that is guaranteed satisfy even the most voracious sweet out there.

  • HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!! It's here guys, how did that happen? I hope you're planning to spend the day with loved ones and not stressing the small stuff. If you're someone who obsesses over making everything perfect (I'm so very guilty of this), just remember, they probably won't remember how perfect the meal was. What everyone remembers is the time spent together and the joy of the season.
My favorite tradition from my childhood is watching Miracle on 34th Street while we start prepping things for the feast. Then we move on to the parade and talk about how it's never as good as it used to be when we were little. Although, I can't help but wonder if that's because I'm just getting older and the balloons don't hold the same appeal. 😜

This year I did most of the prep the day before so I could sit and enjoy my morning coffee because # adultingpriorities
What's your favorite tradition on Thanksgiving?
  • Can I just say that dealing with chestnuts is not exactly the most fun task in the world, which I’m sure any of you who’ve done it would agree with me.

They’re just sort of high maintenance compared to what you get from them. However, I really like using them and I’ve gotta say I’ve dealt with much worse ingredients in my food blogging past so it’s not too bad to mess with them a few times a year. Plus, you all know how much I love to get into themes and stuff, and come on, chestnuts and Christmastime go together like pb&j! Am I right? Am I right???? Okay, but aside from the chestnuts, this soup is a breeze to make and it has so many of the flavors that I love about the holiday season. I really wanted to get the chestnut flavor in there so I added quite a bit.

  • Baby it's cold outside 🎵🎶 Seriously though, it's really cold and I'm not feeling motivated at all to get out of the warm indoors.

Good thing it's a holiday week so there's all the festivities to look forward to. What are your plans for Thanksgiving? I'll be helping with a lot of the food prep of course, and then I've got a non-negotiable date with a fireplace, some Christmas movies, and something got to drink. 😋🔥☕🎄
