Ingredients
1 1/2cupswater
4-5figsstemmed and cut into small pieces
80g1 cup old-fashioned oats
1/4teaspoonsea salt
1/2cupmilkI use almond milk
1/2teaspooncinnamon
1/2teaspooncardamom
1 -2tablespoonssweetener of choiceor to taste (such as maple syrup)
1/4teaspoonpure vanilla extract
Instructions
In a small saucepan, heat the water over low heat until simmering and add the figs. Cover and allow it to cook for about 5 minutes until the figs have begun to soften.
Add the oats, milk, salt, cardamom and cinnamon and cook, stirring gently, for about 5-10 minutes until the liquid is absorbed it oats are as thick as you like. Remove from heat and stir in additional sweetener if desired.
Pour into a bowl and top with any desired toppings such as fruit or nuts and enjoy!
