Cocoa+Oat Protein Waffles (Vegan+GF)

Sometimes the simple things are the best and these waffles are the perfect example. Lightly chocolate and great for an easy breakfast!

  • 60 g plant-based chocolate protein powder
  • 1 cup oat flour
  • 2 cups plant-based milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon cacao powder

Pictured Toppings:

  • fresh blueberries
  • hemp hearts
  • cacao nibs
  • plant-based vanilla yogurt turned blue *see note


  1. Combine oat flour, protein powder, cacao, and baking powder in a large mixing bowl. In separate bowl, combine vanilla and milk. Pour into dry ingredients and stir until you have a smooth batter.
  2. Heat a waffle iron and spray lightly with cooking spray. Cook waffles according to manufacturer's instructions.

Recipe Notes

Depending on the size of waffle iron this recipe will make about 8 large waffles or 16 miniature ones like the ones in the photos. You can get the Mini Waffle Maker here.

For the blue color in the yogurt I used a pinch of Blue Butterfly Pea Powder and a pinch of Spirulina. You can also buy Blue Spirulina that'll give you that aqua color.
