Dalgona Coffee + Oat Milk (Vegan+GF)
I don’t know about you but I like to stick to the four basic food groups; berries, carbs, chocolate, and COFFEE!
Okay fine, so I got FOMO over this and had to try it since it’s literally everywhere on the internet write now. Especially on tiktok where it’s known as “whipped coffee” or “fluffy coffee”. What can I say, I wanted in on this particular fad. Plus….it’s coffee so there’s really no downside here. For once I can say the internet has chosen a worthwhile craze to obsess over. It’s also extremely photogenic for a drink so bonus points.
Writing a recipe for it is kind of a joke since it’s like 3 ingredients but I thought I’d do it anyway. I mean, I did use stevia in one trial of mine to see if it would work and added a little vanilla to the milk for a finishing touch. Also, you can do it with a hand mixer (probably smarter) or you can spend five to eight minutes of your life beating it by hand (what I did since I haven’t bothered to get actual kitchen stuff since my last move). If you’re making it for a group of course, a stand mixer might be the simplest option.
Basically there are so many options. We got all the options. You can make it cold or hot. You can add cinnamon, vanilla, caramel, cocoa…….. You can make it with regular, brown, coconut, or no sugar. The no sugar version is very strong though so you’d have to like dark coffee. The no-sugar or stevia version totally work but they fall very fast after being whipped so make sure to be ready to get that perfect shot for your socials, lol. With all the other sugars you’ll have a longer lasting whip.
Whatever you version you choose, you should definitely try it.
Dalgona Coffee + Oat Milk (Vegan+GF)
This simple drink that's taking over the internet is a must try. You can make it so many different ways and there's no wrong method.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons instant coffee
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar or stevia *see note
- 2 tablespoons boiling water
- Optional finishing touches: cinnamon, caramel, cocoa, or vanilla extract
- 1 cup plant-based milk (I used oat but you can use almond, soy, cashew, hemp,.........)
Instructions
-
Combine the granulated instant coffee, sugar, and boiling water in a medium to large mixing bowl and whip by hand with a whisk or with a hand mixer. By hand should take 6 to 8 minutes and with hand mixer it should only take 4 or 5. Beat until light and fluffy.
-
For iced coffee, pour milk into a glass and add some ice and extra flavor (cinnamon, vanilla....) if you like. Spoon the whipped coffee over the top, stir together, and enjoy! (For hot coffee, simply warm the milk first.)
Recipe Notes
You can use any or no sugar here (coconut, brown, cane....). If using stevia or no sugar the whip will not hold very long but it will still work. The other sugars will last much longer.
